Google AdSense: What is Google AdSense?

Google AdSense is a program operated by Google through which publishers in the Google content network display interactive text, image, video, or media ads that target the content and audience of the site.

These ads are classified, managed and maintained by Google. They can generate revenue per impression or per click. Google tested a cost-per-action service but discontinued DoubleClick in October 2008 (which is also owned by Google).

In the first quarter of 2014, Google earned $ 3.4 billion ($ 13.6 billion annually), or 22% of its total revenue, through AdSense.

Google AdSense participates in the AdChoices program, so AdSense ads often include a triangular AdChoices icon. This program also works on HTTP cookies. In 2021, more than 38.3 million sites will use AdSense.
